Columbia Sussex Management is currently seeking experienced and energetic individuals for the position of Catering Manager for our 347 room resort the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and Spa.

Our resort features modern amenities designed for an upscale stay in Southwest Florida. We are located on 85 lush acres, offering guests easy access to popular destinations Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva Islands along with the historic Fort Myers River District.

This role will include delivery of team leadership while achieving individual catering sales goals. The Catering Manager must provide exceptional client service and serve as main hotel contact for assigned events and groups.

Key responsibilities of the Catering Manager and Event Services include:


  • Promote a role model Marriott image by demonstrating professionalism to both clients and colleagues
  • Be actively engaged with guests and fellow team members and demonstrate Marriott Brilliant Service
  • Prospecting, booking and servicing the social catering market, including weddings
  • Possess extensive working knowledge of traditional and cultural weddings as well as the social market
  • Strong organizational skills, managing multiple tasks at all times and strong communication skills required
  • Providing leadership and management support to managers and team members in the Catering and Event Services departments
  • Achieve established individual catering sales goals and assist the team in achieving departmental booking goals
  • Provide exceptional client service and serve as main hotel contact for assigned groups
  • Develop, implement and/or monitor standard procedures for Catering and Event Services, including Marriott Brand Standards, to maintain high levels of consistent quality and guest service
  • Create and analyze weekly, monthly and annual catering budgets, forecasts, and other financial tools to maximize property revenue and sales
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to display high levels of professionalism during conflict, emergency situations and high business levels


Minimum required experience is 2 years as Catering Sales Manager at full-service hotel properties.
